 A self-proclaimed fan of "Thala" Ajith, Simbu was present today (August 31), to watch the first day first show of Ajith's 50th film 'Mankatha' from Chennai. Simbu, who has many times openly declared that he is an ardent fan of Thala, took an off from his shooting schedule of 'Osthi' to watch 'Mankatha' as a fan.

The shooting for 'Osthi' has been going on full swing with hero Simbu in attendance, from Mysore. But the actor has cancelled his shoot today to cheer his thala along with thousands of Ajith fans across the state.

And what an opening it has been for 'Mankatha!' Thala has hit the bull's eye with his portrayal of Vinayak Mahadevan - what a way to hit the 50th film in one's career. The film has evolved as one of the best entertainers of Ajith till date, with his fans getting a good dose of their icon, be it in dance, romance or the stunts.

'Mankatha,' despite a huge star cast has Ajith written all over it. Kudus to Venkat Prabhu for providing an all round entertainer this time with a big star on board and continuing his successful innings in the Tamil film industry!

Mankatha Review

After about a week of hearing Mankatha , Mankatha everywhere, finally it has come to the lime light today in India.

Mankatha is all about Action, Suspense, Thrill and Romance.

A much awaited one from Venkat Prabhu under Cloud Nine – Sun Pictures Productions, and music by Yuvan and above all Ajith starring in his 50th film.

Cutting to the edge of the story, the bettings in crores in IPL is background of the story, thought cricket is not included.

Vaibhav comes as an assistant to Ajith, Premji appears to be a professional hacker (lol).

Ajith romances with Sanjana and Trisha and in the middle enters into the party un-invited and acts in a way to bag the 500 crore money.

To be frank, Ajith has lived and loved the film, you could see that as he practically carried almost the whole movie on his shoulders.

Here, his character takes a negative role in not bothering about his personal life. He frequently utters cuss words, sleeps with random chicks, drinks heavily, lives for money and lust. We could see Ajith taking such a role after his earlier blockbuster – Vaali.

After a long time, many years after,  we have here a visual treat in Ajith’s tremendous effort in dance.

Though this movie has many casts rolling, none makes a profound impact to the audiences as Ajith. Even Premji’s comedy was a bit annoying apart from 2 or 3 attempts.

Arjun, Andrea and the rest made their best to help for the betterment of the film. Yuvan Shankar Raja’s Vilayadu Mankaatha has got a mesmerising impact that his other songs didn’t get. It is not quite good to say the director has succeeded in his different attempt though he hasn’t failed. It is heard that if one is a great admirer of heist(thief) movies, he is bound to guess the climax of the film in the first 20 min. of the film and so goes for the one who frequently watches masala flicks. In short, the sequences are predictable.

On the whole, this movie is definitely a massive 50th film for Ajith.

If this movie turns out to be a hit, that is just because of Ajith and taking him out, the movie is void.

Mankatha is superb and worth watching twice or even thrice if it is Ajith and Ajith only.

There comes a scene from Vijay starrer Kavalan, thus disclosing his friendship with Vijay.

It is a visual treat for all the anticipated Ajith fans and they would definitely enjoy the movie to the core.

On the whole you would be pleased watching it once.

Ajith Billa 2 started making news

While the heat on Mankatha release is on, Ajith Kumar’s next project Billa 2 has started making news. The latest to hear about the forthcoming Tamil movie is that the actor has shot a foot-tapping number. Sources say that Ajith Kumar has recently completed a song, which was choreographed by Raju Sundaram. The track has come out well and the director has taken extra care towards the picturisation of the number, which was filmed at the beautiful locales of Pondicherry. The music for the peepy song has been scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The Billa unit has wrapped up the 25 day schedule a couple of days ago and it will start its second schedule in September. Film’s lead actresses Huma Qureshi and Bruna Abdullah, who have not taken part in the first phase, will join the second in Goa.

Ajith Mankatha Show time starts on 5am | Mankatha Grand Opening in Theaters

Ajith’s Mankatha will have a special five am screening at Kaasi theatre, Chennai. Asal was also screened at this theatre at this particular time. Vijay’s Sura, Vikram’s Raavanan, and Enthiran were also alloted this time slot so that fans can catch this early bird special. The reason is that hardcore fans would love to see the film before everyone else does and this is for their benefit. It is a given that there will be many who will camp out all night to catch this show!

Ajith’s 50th film Mankatha not be released in Kerala

Ajith’s 50th film Mankatha was touted to be a simultaneous worldwide release but technically it may not be possible. Though the film will hit the silver screens in the national and international markets on August 31st, it will not be released in Kerala on the same day. Trade sources say that non-availability of theatres in Kerala due to Ramzan and other festivals is the main reason. The buzz is that Mankatha will be released in Kerala on September 9th, 2011. Mankatha is directed by Venkat Prabhu and is being marketed aggressively by Sun Pictures. The film is produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri’s Cloud Nine Movies.

“Mankatha is simple”

In a recent interview to a national daily, director Venkat Prabhu has said that he has kept Mankatha simple as he wants even a child to understand the film. According to the director, he did not want to get too experimental with Ajith’s 50th film considering the stakes involved. When asked about his next project, Venkat Prabhu said that he has not yet decided about it but may make a sequel of Chennai 28. The director is however skeptical about this project because he feels that if not handled properly it may not get the response Chennai 28 had got.

Mankatha is Thala Ajith’s 50th film. Dayanidhi Azhagiri has produced this film under the banner Cloud Nine and is being released by Kalanidhi Maaran under the banner Sun Pictures. · This is Trisha’s third film with Ajith. · Shalini Ajith has mentioned that not alone for Ajith but this film will give happiness to producer, director, fans and everyone. · When Chennai -28 was released, Ajith who celebrated his birthday invited the cast and crew and hosted a big party and at that time he has mentioned to Venkat Prabhu," Let’s do a film together." The Mankatha special show was held for its team yesterday and all those associated with the film were invited for this screening. Ajith was so awed and has told the director that he is glad to have trusted him with his 50th film. Ajith to travel to Tirupathi on Aug 31

The countdown has started for the much awaited film of the year Mankatha. Finally the D-day has come closer and it is just 48hours left the release of the film. So, what is Thala’s schedule on the day of the release? Thala Ajith Kumar along with his entire team will travel down to Tirupathi for Lord Balaji darshan on the day Mankatha hitting the screens (August 31st, 2011). It is known that the film’s release is important to the team and very particularly for Ajith as it marks the 50th film in his career. The theatrical rights of Mankatha have been snapped by Radhika Sarath Kumar’s Radaan Media Works, who have sold out all areas in Tamilnadu at a fancy price. The film will see the light of the day in about 300+ screens in Tamilnadu. The hype around the film is getting bigger and bigger as the days are getting closer. The film is going to strike gold at the box office with big Vinayak Chathurthi and Ramzan weekend. We all know that Mankatha is Ajith’s 50th film and it has been publicized that way right from the day the film went on floors. But the most interesting fact is that Mankatha releases on 31-8-11 and when these numbers are added it totals 50! Looks like the film is destined to hit the screens on this day despite the team’s best efforts to release it on Ajith’s birthday May 1st, 2011! Mani Ratnam ropes in Ajith?

If sources in the tinsel town are to be believed, then it is a casting coup of sorts! The current buzz in the film industry is that Mani Ratnam, one of the finest filmmakers in India, and actor Ajith are teaming up for a movie for the first time. According an insider, the Raavan director flew to Hyderabad recently and met Ajith on the sets of Billa 2 at Ramoji Rao Film City. The discussions went on for hours and centred around the possibility of the two of them coming together after Thala completes Billa 2. It is reported that the unit members were in for a surprise as Mani, who never has the habit of visiting any star (with the exception of Kamal Haasan earlier) on the sets, walked in the other day. Apparently, both Mani and Ajith were in a cheerful mood and sounded positive.

The grapevine has it that Ajith is also eager to work with the acclaimed filmmaker, after all Mani has given made classics like Nayagan with Kamal and with Rajinikanth. It may be recalled that of late Mani Ratnam is keen to work with big actors in Tamil and he also went ahead and initiated talks with Vijay for his magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan. But the project got shelved for various reasons. If all goes well, the new movie would begin in mid-2012. Presently Mani Ratnam is busy with his next film, which has all newcomers in the lead, based on the sensitive issue of plight of Rameshwaram fishermen at the hands of Sri Lankan Navy. Mani is launching Gautham, son of veteran actor Karthik, as the lead actor with Rajiv Menon behind the camera and AR Rahman composing the music.

Mankatha Team Watches First Copy Of Mankatha

Yesterday nite, Mankatha's first copy was screened for the family members of Mankatha's cast and crew. That was a very special moment for them. Thala Ajith was also present at Prasad EFX Preview Theatre where the special screening of Mankatha was held. Actor Vaibhav was the first one to tweet outta excitement on watching the film. Trisha :: I have become more beautiful after Mankatha

Mankatha is film which is grandly being released by Sun Pictures. Ajith is donning the lead role. Trisha who has acted in this film while speaking said, "There will be something in Venkat Prabhu’s film. He asked me whether I am interested to act in Mankatha. He also told me that my role will not be a full length role like Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya but my role will much spoken about. Even without listening to the story, I agreed to act in the film. Venkat Prabhu’s sister Vasugi was my costumer. She is the one who made me feel that I was so beautiful. The costumes she designed made me look prettier. Even after the shooting was completed I am following her tips. Everybody including my mother are telling that I am looking more prettier than before. I have worn modern apparels because I am donning the role of a Mumbai girl. This is my third film with Ajith. Above all I have a got a small friend that is Ajith’s daughter. Now I have become a slave to her and Ajith’s cooked food."

Venkat Prabhu says Ajith fans will get to see everything

Venkat Prabhu has said that Mankatha has been certified with a UA. The director is extremely happy that the censor board officials did not advocate any cuts and passed the film with a UA. The director added that board officials were mighty pleased with the film and thoroughly enjoyed the show. The heavily relieved Venkat Prabhu said that Ajith fans will get to see everything as there are no cuts.

With censor certification complete, the count down has begun for Ajith fans and Venkat Prabhu fans who are eagerly waiting for the release of Mankatha.

மங்காத்தா அஜித்துக்காக உருவாக்கப்பட்டதல்ல :வெங்கட்பிரபு!!

மங்காத்தா படத்தின் கதை அஜித்துக்காக உருவாக்கப்பட்டது அல்ல என்று அப்பபடத்தின் டைரக்டர் வெங்கட்பிரபு கூறியுள்ளார். வெங்கட்பிரபு இயக்கத்தில் அஜித்-த்ரிஷா நடித்திருக்கும் மங்காத்தா படம் வரும் 30ம்தேதி ரிலீஸ் ஆகவிருக்கிறது. ரசிகர்களில் ஏகோபித்த எதிர்பார்ப்புடன் திரைக்கு வரவிருக்கும் இப்படம் குறித்து தினம் தினம் புதுப்புது தகவல்கள் வெளியாகிக் கொண்டே இருக்கின்றன. இந்நிலையில் மங்காத்தா உருவான கதை பற்றி டைரக்டர் வெங்கட்பிரபு புதிய தகவல் ஒன்றை வெளியிட்டிருக்கிறார்.

இதுதொடர்பாக அவர் அளித்துள்ள பேட்டியில், மங்காத்தா படத்தின் கதை அஜித்துக்காக உருவாக்கப்பட்டது இல்லை. படத்தில் வரும் விநாயக் கேரக்டர் விவேக் ஒபராய்க்காக உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. முதலில் இந்தக் கதையில் விவேக் ஒபராய்தான் நடிப்பதாக இருந்தது. ஆனால் படம் பற்றி அவரிடம் பேசவில்லை. அப்போதுதான் அஜித்திடம் இருந்து ஒரு போன் வந்தது. "அடுத்த படத்துக்கு "மங்காத்தா என்று பெயர் வைத்துள்ளதாக கேள்விப்பட்டேன். நல்ல பெயர். வாழ்த்துகள் என்றார். "ஹாலிவுட்டில் பிரபலமான "தி டார்க் நைட் படத்தில் வரும் ஹெத் லெட்ஜர் கேரக்டரில் நடிக்க வேண்டும் என நினைக்கிறேன். அது போல் ஒரு கதை செய்ய முடியுமா? என அஜித் என்னிடம் கேட்டார். மங்காத்தா அது போன்ற ஒரு கதைதான் என்று சொல்லி கதையின் கருவை சொன்னேன். அவருக்கு பிடித்து விட்டது. "சூப்பர் நானே நடிக்கிறேன் என்று கூறி விட்டார். இது மூன்றே நிமிடங்களில் நடந்த விஷயம். இதுதான் அஜித்தின் "மங்காத்தா உருவான கதை, என்று கூறியிருக்கிறார்.

There’s one person more excited than anyone else about the release of Mankatha — its director. “Not because it’s my film, but because it’s Ajith sir’s, that too his 50th one,” says Venkat Prabhu, whose film is due for release on August 31.

It’s old news that Venkat is a huge fan of Ajith. What is new is his attempt to project the actor in a way never before seen in films. “I approached Mankatha as a fan. I asked myself how I would want to see Ajith sir on screen and then set out,” smiles Venkat. “It was a huge responsibility because he came on board after listening to a one-line narration. I did not want to let him down.”

The music and trailer have received a good response and fans are waiting to see a new Ajith on screen. “There is huge pressure. The burden of expectation is there. But, we want to satisfy all with the film. It is my first action film too, and our team has tried its best to achieve international quality on a local budget.”

This film is special in more ways than one. Venkat has moved away from his “comfort” actors (the Chennai 28, Saroja and Goa gang) and signed on stars known for their drawing power (Ajith, Arjun, Trisha, etc). “But, we had a great time with ‘thala’ too,” says Venkat. “Now, I’m probably more comfortable with him than with the boys. Once you get close, he’s sema cool to hang out with. And, I’ve wanted to work with him for long. I missed two chances — Aegan and Aasal. I’m glad this one worked out.”

The director also departs from his habit of getting experimental in the way he narrates a story. “This time around, I’m keeping it simple. I want even my daughter (who is eight) and her friends to understand it,” he says.

Is this a reaction to the lukewarm response to Goa? “Ah Goa,” he sighs. “I really don’t know why it did not click. It was a fun film, but people who saw it either loved it or hated it.”

Mankatha was also actively promoted on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, a first of sorts for a Tamil film. “Our initial decision was to keep a low profile. But, we all got carried away because we wanted people to know what fun we were having making the film. So, we started with teaser photos from the sets — Ajith used to make biryani for us, and we had a shot of his hand when he was serving the food. We showed all, except his get-up,” says Venkat.

But did awe for the actor get in the way of work? “No. At that moment, you are in charge and you know what to do to get what you want. And Ajith was very sweet, giving as many takes as I wanted. The magnitude of the whole thing will probably sink in after the film’s release.” Think Venkat Prabhu and you automatically think of his brother Premgi and cousin Yuvan Shankar Raja, both of whom seem to reserve their best for him. Venkat laughs. “Yuvan and I grew up together. He gives me his best, as always. As for Premgi, he’s a natural. You can’t make him act. If you know him well, you know the right button to press.”

After this, what? “A break. I never plan a new film while working on something. I’d love to chill out and then think. There are plans for a sequel to Chennai 28. But, I’m not sure if I can recreate that magic. We all know what happened to Hangover 2, right?”

Venkat does have a few scripts in mind, but in a genre different from what he has attempted so far. “But, one thing is clear. It will bear my stamp.”

தலைக்கு வந்தது தலைப்பாகையோடு போனது மாதிரி 'மங்காத்தா' வெளியாவதில் இருந்த சிக்கல் பனி போல் விலகிவிட்டது. வெங்கட்பிரபு இயக்கத்தில் அஜித், அர்ஜுன் நடித்துள்ள படம் 'மங்காத்தா'. இதில் முழுக்க முழுக்க அஜித் வில்லனாக நடித்துள்ளதால் ரசிகர்களிடம் எதிர்பார்ப்பு அதிகரித்துள்ளது. எனவே நல்ல லாபம் பார்த்துவிடலாம் என காத்திருந்த தயாரிப்பு நிறுவனத்தின் காதுகளில் விநியோகஸ்தர்களிடம் இருந்து வந்த செய்தி ஒன்று வெந்நீரை ஊற்றியது படத்தை தயாரித்துள்ளது அழகிரியின் மகன் என்பதால், 'அம்மா' தரப்பிலிருந்து 'அன்பு கட்டளை' வந்தால் என்ன செய்வது என்ற பயத்தில் விநியோகஸ்தர்கள் ஜகா வாங்க, சொந்தமாக ரிலீஸ் செய்ய முடிவெடுத்தது தயாரிப்பு. ஆனால் தியேட்டர் அதிபர்கள் பக்கத்திலிருந்தும் ஒத்துழைப்பு கிடைக்காதது தயாநிதியை அப்செட்டாக்கியது. இந்த நேரத்தில்தான் யாமிருக்க பயமேன் என உதவிக்கு வந்தது ஜெமினி. க்ளவுட் நைன் பெயரில் ரிலீஸ் செய்தால்தானே சிக்கல். படத்தை எங்கள் பேனரில் வெளியிட்டால் பிரச்சினை இல்லை என்று ஐடியா கொடுத்த ஜெமினி, சந்தர்ப்பத்தை சரியாக பயன்படுத்தி, குறைந்த விலைக்கு 'மங்காத்தா'வை வாங்கி வெளியிடுகிறது. செப்டம்பர் முதல் வாரத்தில் விநாயகர் சதுர்த்தி, ரம்ஜான் என தொடர்ச்சியாக பண்டிகை வருவதால் அந்த நாளில் படத்தை வெளியிட திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. எது எப்டியோ ரசிகர்கள காக்க வைக்காம சீக்கிரம் ரிலீஸ் பண்ணுங்கப்பா.....

அஜித்துடன் ஜோடி சேரும் பிரேசில் நாட்டு அழகி!!!!!

அல்டிமேட் ஸ்டார் அஜித்குமாரின் 51- வது படம்தான் ‘பில்லா 2’. இப்படத்திற்கான முதற்கட்ட படப்பிடிப்பு ஹைதராபத்தில் நடைபெற்று முடிந்தது.
தற்போது இப்படக்குழுவினர் முத்து நகரமான தூத்துக்குடிக்கு இடம்பெயர்ந்துள்ளனர். அங்குதான் டேவிட்டாக இருக்கும் அஜித் பில்லாவாக மாற்றப்படுகிறாராம்.
இதனால்தான் படக்குழுவினர் இப்போது தூத்துக்குடிக்கு சென்றுள்ளனர். இதையடுத்து கோவா, பாண்டிச்சேரி மற்றும் ரஷியாவில் உள்ள வோட்கா நகரம் ஆகிய இடங்களில் படப்பிடிப்பு நடத்த திட்டமிட்டிருக்கிறார் இப்படத்தின் இயக்குனரான சக்ரி டோலட்டி.
இப்படத்தில் இரண்டு கதாநாயகிகளாம். அதில் ஒருவர் தில்லியை சேர்ந்த மாடலான ஹூமா குரோஷி ஆவார். மற்றொருவர் யார் என்ற தகவல் இப்போது கிடைத்திருக்கிறது. பிரேசில் நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த மாடல் அழகியான புருனா அப்துல்லா என்ற கவர்ச்சி பதுமையை மற்றொரு கதாநாயகியாக்கி இருக்கின்றனர்.

ஆகஸ்ட் 30 முதல் அஜித்தின் மங்காத்தா!

அஜீத்தின் 50-வது படமான மங்காத்தா வரும் ஆகஸ்ட் 30-ஆம் தேதி உலகெங்கும் வெளியாகிறது.

அஜீத், திரிஷா, அர்ஜுன், லட்சுமிராய் என பெரும் நட்சத்திரப் பட்டாளமே நடித்துள்ள படம் மங்காத்தா. வெங்கட் பிரபு இயக்கியுள்ளார்.ரசிகர்கள் பெரும் ஆர்வத்துடன் இந்தப் படத்துக்காக காத்திருக்கின்றனர். இந்தப் படத்தின் பாடல்கள் ஆகஸ்ட் 14ஆம் தேதி பிரபல பன்பலை வானொலியான மிர்ச்சி ரேடியோ நிகழ்ச்சி மூலம் வெளியிடப்பட்டது.

இப்படி வெளியிட்டது தனது வழக்கமான செண்டிமெண்டுகளில் ஒன்று என குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார் இயக்குனர் வெங்கட்பிரபு. சமீபத்தில் மங்காத்தா பட வெளியீடு குறித்து தெரிவிக்க பத்திரிகையாலர்களை சந்தித்த இயக்குநர் வெங்கட் பிரபு, “மங்காத்தா படத்தில் அஜீத் கெட்டவனாக நடித்துள்ளார்.

இந்தக் கதையில் மொத்தம் ஐந்து கேரக்டர்கள். அதில் நான்கு பேர் கெட்டவர்கள். ஐந்தாவது ஆள் ரொம்ப ரொம்ப கெட்டவர்.
எனது படங்களின் கதை கிரிக்கெட்டோடு தொடர்புடையதாகவே இருக்கும்.

அஜீத்துக்கு பிடித்தமான மோட்டார் சைக்கிள் ரேசையும் படத்தில் சேர்த்துள்ளோம். இந்த படத்தின் பாடல்களை யுவன் ஷங்கர் ராஜா பிரமாதமாக கொடுத்துள்ளார். ஹாலிவுட் நடிகர்களுக்கு மட்டுமே சாத்தியமான கெட்டப்பில் சால்ட் ஆண்ட் பெப்பர் லுக்குடன் அஜீத் வருகிறார்.

வித்தியாசமான ஆக்ஷன் திரில்லர் கதையாக உருவாகியுள்ளது. இம்மாதம் 30-ஆம் தேதி படத்தை ரிலீஸ் செய்ய திட்டமிட்டுள்ளோம். இந்தப் படத்தில் அஜீத்துக்கு இணையான வேடத்தில் வருபவர் ஆக்ஷன் கிங் அர்ஜூன். இது அஜீத்தின் பொன்விழா படம்.

அஜீத்துக்குதான் முக்கியத்துவம் இருக்கும் எனத் தெரிந்தும் அர்ஜூன் பெருந்தன்மையுடன் ஒப்புக் கொண்டார்,” என்றார். தற்போது மங்காத்தா படத்தை முதல் பிரதி அடிப்படையில் ஜெமினி லேப் நிறுவனம் வாங்கியுள்ளதாகவும்.

ஆகஸ்ட் 30-ஆம் தேதி ரிலீஸ் செய்ய தமிழகம் முழுவதும் திரையரங்குகள் ஒப்பந்தம் செய்யப்பட்டு வருவதாகவும் ஃபாக்ஸ் ஆபீஸ் வட்டாரங்கள் தெரிவிகின்றன.
