Mankatha is Thala Ajith’s 50th film. Dayanidhi Azhagiri has produced this film under the banner Cloud Nine and is being released by Kalanidhi Maaran under the banner Sun Pictures.
· This is Trisha’s third film with Ajith.
· Shalini Ajith has mentioned that not alone for Ajith but this film will give happiness to producer, director, fans and everyone.
· When Chennai -28 was released, Ajith who celebrated his birthday invited the cast and crew and hosted a big party and at that time he has mentioned to Venkat Prabhu," Let’s do a film together." Then only commenced the creation of Mankatha.
· Ajith friends phoned him and told him that there will be a good promo for this film since Sun Pictures have acquired the rights.
· Ajith has strictly told Venkat Prabhu that there is no need of speaking dialogues facing the camera since this will be unnecessary build up.
· Ajith has instructed Vasugi Bhaskar that his costumes should not be very rich neither very local.
· Vijay had recently hosted a party to the cast and crew of Nanban. Venkat Prabhu also participated in this party. Vijay has mentioned to Venkat that the trailer of Mankatha was superb
· Karthik Raja, Bhavatharini and Premji Amaran has assisted Yuvan Shankar Raja in scoring the background music.
· Mahakavi Bharathiyar’s great grandson Niranjan Bharathi has penned lyrics which begin with the lines Kannadi Nee. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music for this lyric within 10 minutes and has also completed the recording in a single day.
· Arjun has donned the role of a police officer. This was role was supposed to be done by Telugu top hero Nagarjuna.
· Gangai Amaran, Yuvan Shankar Raja and Susithra have jointly written the song Vilayadu Mankatha.
· Dayanidhi Azhagiri’s wife Anusha is debuting as playback singer through this song.
· Ajith use to go to the sets even if he has no shots at 7.30 am itself to welcome Arjun and will go back until he completes his shooting.
· They have shot the climax sequence very sensationally where there will be bike chasing and fighting between Arjun and Ajith.
· After completing each tune, Yuvan and Venkat will show it to Ajith and get it okayed.
· The sets of Mumbai Dharavi slums were erected in Binny Mills in Chennai and shooting took place there.
· When shooting in Mumbai, many Hindi speaking people called Ajith by his pet name Thala which made him happier.
· Though Ajith has dissolved his fan clubs, it can be seen from the crowd thronging the theatres to get tickets itself proves that his fans are ready to lay their lives for the sake of Ajith.
· Venkat Prabhu said, "Only Ajith has the boldness and confidence to do a baddie role in his 50th film."
